The Freewheeler® has traditionally had a classic chrome aesthetic, and one of the major changes for this model year is that the brand has switched to a more modern appearance and has added new color options as well.
Performance & Ride Characteristics
The 2023 Harley-Davidson® Freewheeler® is built on a chassis that Harley-Davidson® has designed specifically for its three-wheeled motorcycles. The Freewheeler® comes suited to two-up riding direct from the factory and delivers a comfortable ride that holds up even on longer rides. Powering the Freewheeler® is the Milwaukee-Eight® 114 engine. The 114 delivers ample performance for most riders but does give you the option of increasing output to be in line with the 117, which is the most powerful air-cooled engine that Harley-Davidson® makes. The Freewheeler® also comes standard with advanced rider assists.
Freewheeler® vs Tri Glide Ultra & Road Glide® 3
Three-wheeled motorcycles are becoming so popular that Harley-Davidson® has expanded the available models to three. You can think of the Freewheeler® as the cruiser of the family. The Tri Glide Ultra provides more of a fully dressed touring experience, and the Road Glide 3, which is new for this model year, is a stripped-down tourer with a shark-nosed fairing.
This Is the Right Bike For
The 2023 Harley-Davidson® Freewheeler® is an amazing all-around option for the rider who wants a three-wheeled motorcycle, and if you’re unsure if you prefer a trike to a cruiser, then we recommend setting up a test-ride at our location. The Freewheeler® is a good all-around option because it’s just as suited to running errands around town as it is riding highway miles or taking on your local twisties. One thing to consider is that it doesn’t have an infotainment system. Many riders see that as a plus, but if you don’t, then you should probably look at the Tri Glide Ultra or Road Glide 3 instead.
Customization
As mentioned, the classic chrome aesthetic has been replaced with a more modern blacked-out appearance. Vivid Black remains the standard color included. There are also two premium colors available: White Sand Pearl and Bright Billiard Blue with Billiard Gray.
